Subversive Blogger

Tag! I’m it. A blog pal, Jeff McQuilkin, has honored me with the subversive blogger award.

I’m glad someone considered me counter church-culture enough to meet the definition (which you can see in block quotes below). Thanks Jeff!

Here’s the details:

Subversive bloggers are unsatisfied with the status quo, whether in church, politics, economics or any other power-laden institution, and they are searching for (and blogging about) what is new (or a “return to”) – even though it may be labeled as sacrilege, dangerous, or subversive.”

Unfortunately, I can’t take the time to tag other folks right now (semester three in full swing), but let me say that I’m thankful for numerous bloggers (Jeff included) who exalt Christ through the simplicity of the gospel and who take a bite out of church crime.

The tension is, and will always be, allowing the presence of Christ to permeate our lives so that people can say “Wow! That person is different. I want what they’ve got.” We live in tension. As Paul said, “We have this treasure in jars of clay.” We’re only cracked pots… the treasure should define us.

At any rate, it is good to be part of an informal community on the web that does a little ranting about what is and what could be.

Blog on, subversive ones!
